School Counselors are available during school hours, 7:00am - 3:00pm.

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

School counselors are available to support the academic, social emotional, and college/career goals of all students.  As such, there may be times when the academic counselor or SAP Coordinator need to connect with individual students or groups of students to provide resources or to address specific questions / concerns.  All communication with students is in accordance with district policies and guidelines.

​4/9/22 - 2022-23 Course Request Verification 
This is your FINAL chance to review and make changes to course requests for the 2022-23 school year!  The deadline to make changes to course requests is MAY 1st. After that date requests will be considered finalized. Any future change requests will only be honored based on our Schedule Change policy, which does not allow for elective changes..  CAREFULLY REVIEW YOUR STUDENT'S COURSE REQUESTS IN POWERSCHOOL. Previously entered course requests may have been DROPPED if a course is no longer going to be offered next year. If you need to make a change to the requests, follow the steps below:
​

1) READ AND FOLLOW THE COURSE VERIFICATION INSTRUCTIONS
2) Choose courses from the Revised 10th-12th Grade Course Offerings Sheet
3) Use the FVHS Elective Guide for course descriptions and PREREQUISITE COURSE REQUIREMENTS
4) Complete the Course Request Verification form by May 1st

4/8/22 - Senior Honors Review
The following designations will be used in determining Senior Honors recognition:
•  Students with a 3.75 - 3.99 weighted GPA receive the distinction of cum laude
•  Students with a 4.0 - 4.249 weighted GPA receive the distinction of magna cum laude
•  Students with a 4.25 or higher weighted GPA receive the distinction of summa cum laude

All WCPSS high schools will determine Senior Honors using this system based on the cumulative GPA at the end of the 1st semester of the graduating year.
​If any student believes that their spring semester courses will impact their honor status, they can request a review by completing 
this form by MAY 1st.  
​A revised cumulative GPA will be calculated using 
Quarter 3 grades as projected final grades for spring classes.


3/11/22  - The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Crisis Guide (SPANISH VERSION)-  NAMI has developed this guide to support people experiencing mental health crises, their friends and families by providing important, sometimes lifesaving information. This guide outlines what can contribute to a crisis, warning signs that a crisis is emerging, strategies to help de-escalate a crisis and resources that may be available for those affected. 

2/15/22  - College Readiness: If you are planning to attend college after high school, whether that is a 4-year University or a Community College, view our virtual College Readiness Presentation to learn about opportunities to take college-level courses and potentially earn college credit while in high school.

1/3/22  SPRING SCHEDULE CHANGE INFORMATION
We are no longer accepting Schedule Change Requests. If you have any questions regarding your schedule, please contact your School Counselor. 


​12/1/21  JUNIOR CONFERENCES 
During the week of 12/6, School Counselors will be holding Junior Conferences during English classes. We will be focusing on college and career readiness and post-secondary planning. Due to the large size of the junior class, we will be meeting with half of the junior class this December and the other half in early spring 2022. Students: please check with your English teacher to check what day your conference is scheduled for!

You may have heard about FVHS College Application Day on Thursday, October 21, 2021. We're excited to help you complete your applications and help you with your questions. There will be multiple College Admissions reps on site, as well as information on Financial Aid and Scholarships. Still not sure what you're doing after high school? Our Career Development Coordinator will be there to help you with that as well! Review the schedule and linked documents PRIOR TO coming to the Media Center during your assigned time.
