Countdown to College - Apply to participating colleges through CFNC for FREE during the week of October 16th - 20th
FVHS College Application Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th. Seniors are scheduled a time to come to the Media Center to get individual help with completing college applications. There will be multiple College Admissions reps on site, as well as information on Financial Aid and Scholarships. View the attached schedule to see when you should report to the Media Center. IMPORTANT! Before College Application Day, please review the College Admission Checklist and complete the RDS with a family member so you can submit your applications! And remember, application fees are only waived at participating colleges when students apply through CFNC.

Summer
→ Prioritize your list of colleges or universities
→ Continue to visit colleges
→ Determine deadlines for college admissions and scholarships
→ Create or update your resume
→ Register for the ACT or SAT if needed. How do your scores compare? Check out the ACT/SAT Concordance Chart.
→ Make sure that senior courses meet or exceed college expectations.
→ Fill out the "Student Brag Sheet" if you need a letter of recommendation from your school counselor or teacher
→ Student Athletes: Make sure you are meeting Division I and II requirements. Visit the NCAA Clearinghouse and the NCAA Eligibility Center.
→ Become familiar with North Carolina college admissions requirements!
Fall
→ Find out the date and time of your Senior Conference, and be prepared to discuss your plans for after graduation
→ Determine admissions deadlines -- some schools have early deadlines in October and November
→ Review FVHS Transcript procedures
→ Start applying for scholarships
→ Make good grades
→ APPLY EARLY!
→ Ensure that your application is complete
→ Complete financial aid process and FAFSA
→ Complete Residency Determination -
→ Meet with Tori Sharpe, the FVHS Financial Aid Advisor, on Wednesdays at FVHS. Sign up in Student Services!
→ Continue applying for scholarships
Spring
→ Make your final college decision
→ Continue to work hard in your classes! Despite admittance to college, your grades still count and colleges can revoke your admission!
→ Take AP and SAT Subject tests, as needed
→ Continue applying for scholarships
→ Request final transcript (automatically sent through CFNC)
→ Complete NCAA requirements (student athletes)
