SOPHOMORE YEAR TIMELINE
→ Show up! Attendance is crucial to a successful school year.
→ Get plenty of rest!
→ Continue to get extra help if needed. FVHS offers multiple free tutoring opportunities such as after school tutoring and peer tutoring. Always start with your teacher. READ: How to Succeed in High School Math
→ If you haven't already done so, get involved! We have numerous clubs and activities that can enhance your high school experience. If you are already involved, stay involved!
→ Challenge yourself in all classes. Begin to take more rigorous courses such as Honors or Advanced Placement. Remember your individual strengths and weaknesses and do not compare yourself to your classmates!
→ Do not fall behind. It is very difficult to raise your GPA after several low grades.
→ Visit CFNC to explore post-secondary schools and career options.
→ Meet with your school counselor to ensure you are on track for graduation and that your courses align with your post-high school plans.
→ Take the PSAT to help you increase your scores on the SAT. .
→ Continue to explore post-secondary options. Review UNC minimum college entrance requirements to ensure that you register for courses needed and maintain a competitive GPA. Remember that minimum college requirements are just that, a minimum! Set your goals higher than what is required.
→ Begin to visit colleges and universities that you are interested in.
→ Talk with friends and family about their educational experiences.
