FRESHMAN YEAR TIMELINE
→ Show up! Attendance is crucial to high school success. You cannot learn when you are not here.
→ Get plenty of rest.
→ Complete ALL of your work! Your grade will be severely affected if you do not complete and turn in your assignments. Homework, classwork, and studying are equally important.
→ Ask questions often. If you do not understand what your teacher is saying, ask for clarification. It really is that easy, but difficult for some students. Your teacher does not know that you are struggling if you do not ask! If you need help asking for help, see your school counselor.
→ Get help if needed. FVHS offers after-school tutoring, peer tutoring, and working lunch. Always start with your teacher. Check out the TUTORING RESOURCES page.
→ Get involved! We have numerous clubs, activities, and sports to enhance your high school experience. Click here to view a list of FVHS clubs and organizations!
→ Start exploring your post-secondary options. Visit the College Foundation of North Carolina to start!
→ Click HERE to check out the CFNC 9th grade timeline for helpful links and advice
→ Challenge yourself! Do not compare your academic strengths and weaknesses to your classmates. Do the best with what you have.
→ Do not let your grades fall behind! Freshman year is the start of your High School GPA.
