Are you interested in a summer residential program designed to spark your intellectual curiosity?
No tests…no grades…
Come to a Governor’s School Informational Meeting!
Thursday, SEPTEMBER 26, 2019, at 10:08 (beginning of ROAR LUNCH)
Governor’s School is an exceptional summer experience for academically, intellectually and artistically gifted students. The program is held on college campuses and lasts 5 ½ weeks. Teachers nominate current 11th graders in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, French, Spanish, Art, Drama, Dance, and Vocal/Instrumental Music. Current 10th graders can only be nominated in Choral Music, Instrumental Music, and Dance. See your teacher if you would like to be nominated. There is a rigorous screening process for the applicants since Wake County can send only a limited number of students.
Eligibility Requirements are as follows:
• RESIDENCY – You must be a North Carolina resident
• ENROLLMENT – You must be:
a. Attending a North Carolina public or non-public school, and
b. Enrolled in the eleventh grade at the time of nomination (exceptions are made to allow for students in tenth and eleventh grades in Dance, Choral Music and Instrumental Music), and
c. Scheduled to return to attend school after the Governor’s School session (i.e., not having graduated).
• ACHIEVEMENT – You must meet the achievement criterion as established by the Board of Governors for the North Carolina Governor’s School. This means a national percentile score of 92% or above on an approved achievement test OR a state percentile score of 92% or above on an allowable North Carolina End-of-Course (EOC) Test.
Sign up for the meeting in Student Services (ROOM 2503) if you would like to attend.
If you cannot attend the meeting, see Mrs. Xana Harrington (email@example.com) in Student Services for important information.
NCDPI will also hold a Regional Informational Meeting at Meredith College on September 26, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Jones Chapel for parents and students.
